This is a very unique and excellent working product and I enjoyed using it.When you open up the box to this wireless N USB adapter, you will notice that there is the white Alfa Network adapter (Model # AWUS036NHRV2), antenna that screws in, and the USB cable that powers the adapter. The setup is extremely simple and didn't take any time at all.

I have used this adapter on my Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers and I didn't have any driver issues. The drivers are stable and if you don't like to use the driver CD that is included in the packaging, you can always get the current release from  Alfa Networks  website.

After I plugged the provided USB cable into my computer as well as into the adapter, the notification light turned on immediately. After installing the proper drivers (I used the website's current release) this device was ready to be used and with full extent. I connected the wireless N adapter to my Windows 7 laptop and walked around to view any signal loss and range depreciation. Alfa Networks wireless N USB adapter has a network speed up to 150 Mbps and uses a backward compatible 2.4GHz band. The backward compatability comes in handy if you haven't upgraded certain peripherals that still utilize the 802.11B and 802.11G. When the running device has only the 802.11B or G capabilities, the device will only be able to reach a maximum of 54Mbps.

Having the ability to use a USB cable between your PC and the adapter gives you more probability with picking up a good signal. You are able to move the adapter to your choosing until you pick up an acceptable signal.

The software/utility that is included with the drivers CD can come in handy. The scanner has the ability to find the desired WiFi network and also save configurations. The Windows WiFi utility will also be fine to use for this adapter.

The last part I want to talk about would be the ability to use ad-hoc mode and connect to other 2.4GHz wireless computer and accessories, or infrastructure mode for connecting to a wireless router and/or access point for internet usage. This means you can use this device in any wireless method and can handle backwards compatibility as well.
